Bits and Pieces

Lately it's been challenging to remain in a headspace where creativity can thrive. Let's just say I've taken several, "I need a minute" days these past months, and I anticipate much of the same for this coming year. There are a few things I'd like to share that I've come to enjoy. Podcasts, particularly Irish podcasts that analyze murder cases. Yeap, murder cases. There's something incredibly soothing about listening to someone speak in an Irish accent. I know it may seem odd, and likely it is, murder podcasts for their calming nature, what can say? Here are the ones that have stood out incase you too are as strange as I am!

These have been my go to for getting back to sleep at night.
I've also enjoyed this podcast
It's crazy to me that reality is more terrifying than murder!
I digress...on the art front it's been busy. Throughout the summer I worked on four large abstract pieces completing them early this fall. This week Maxwell from Steidel Contemporary has selected three to be included during the Palm Beach Exhibition in February. In the coming week I'll be working out the details with a framer in Palm Beach to have the pieces restretched. If all goes well, they will be winging their way to Palm Beach by the end of next week.
Here they are...
Your Hurricane 2025. 78x75 on. raw canvas, acrylic staining and mixed media.
I love this piece, its' energy, the risks, the palette, all of it. I oftern perceive myself as a hurricane at times, barreling through, paint flying, music blairing, my body contorting to bring life into the work. How boring life would be without that sort of energy.

Somewhere In Between 2025. 48x75, acrylic staining/mixed media on raw canvas.
Somewhere In Between came together quite quickly. I had an overwhelming feeling of literally being somewhere in between, neither here not there. This one has a special place in my heart, I feel deeply intertwined with this work. There is a bolder color patette and a sense of movement throughout the piece, everything within me I spilled onto this canvas.

Playground 2025, 75x69, acrylic/mixed media on canvas
I literally threw this painting out of the studio, I struggled with it for weeks. Then one day it just seamlessly came together. I titled it Playground because it took me coming full circle, continuing to play with the composition, energy, marks, until it blossomed into a piece that I'm very proud of. On the days I struggled I had stopped playing, lesson learned. The canvas is my playground, the place where curiosity, a sense of humor and passion thrives. Thanks Playground for the reminder.
Kittery Art Association
I've recently been appointed to the Exhibits Chair at the Kittey Art Association, a roll I am excited and honored to find myself in. I've been working along side three dedicated Exhibit Committee members to enhance our exhibits and bring forward some new ideas aimed at helping our membership thrive in their artistic endeavors.
Sasse Museum, Pomona, CA and NAWA USA
I'm thrilled to have been included in the Pacific Influence exhibit at the Sasse Museum in Pomona, CA., coordinated by the National Association of Women Artists, USA.

Thank you all for your continued support, we need one another more now than ever. Stay safe, strong and determined and I'll do the same.
Love,
Angelique
